First Annual Philippine-Pacific Island Festival & Friendship Day, Austin, Texas - p4
The audience watching a Hawaiian fire dance by one of the members of the Kona Isle Hawaiian Dance Troupe This feels good! Massage therapists Dawn Brooke & Joanna Madrigal $1/min. 40% of the fee will go to the Carolina Medical Mission in the Philippines
Jegimajo Coffee & Halo-Halo booth was one of the bestsellers at the Festival with long lines of customers until they run out of ingredients after only three hours from
opening. Gigi Hobson (in red printed shirt standing ideways) had to run to her shop to get some more. Gigi Hobson is one of the prime movers in making this first annual festival happen and very successful in their fort. She is the program coordinator of this festival hosted by the AFAA, in cooperation with other organizations like PASA (Philippine American Society of Austin and other
cultural groups).
Bahay Kubo owners, Louie & Jennifer Perez, were also first timers in joining this kind of Filipino festival. They did not expect the big turn-out and they run out of food for sale just half-way of the festival.
