Dallas, Texas: As part of the Philippine Republic Indepence
Day Celebrations
(PRDC) and as one of the several Sporting Events of PRDC, the yearly bowling
tournament held on May 25, 2004 to May 31, 2004 attracted 496 entries.
More than
$62,000 was paid out to a total of 98 people. The Finals were the closest
veteran bowlers in Dallas-Fort Worth area have ever witnessed, with a
possible 3-way tie for first place going to the last shot of the tournament!

Four Filipinos reached the semifinals of this $5005 Singles Tournament,
which was open to all league bowlers. They all won cash prizes: Gene Orille,
Tina Stickney, Virgie Wright-Brown and Bing Obaldo. |

An All-Filipino Invitational Singles Scratch Championship was conducted
as a separate event on May 30, 2004 at the same bowling venue, at Don Carter
West in Dallas, Texas. First place went to Mar Riofta of Dallas; second
place went to Mathie Banaag of Dallas; third place was won by Carlos Abadilla
of Houston. Mar won the most cash and brought home a championship trophy.
Contestants included Filipino bowlers from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Houston,
Texas aside from many bowlers from the DFW Metroplex area. |
